Ex-CJI: Tata Chairman Needs Trusts' Nominee Support

Former Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud has opined that Tata Sons cannot validly reappoint N Chandrasekaran as executive chairman without majority support from Tata Trusts' nominee directors. The legal opinion, obtained by the Trusts, centres on the interpretation of Tata Sons' Articles of Association. Trusts chairman Noel Tata voted against the reappointment, while vice-chairman Venu Srinivasan backed it.

पूर्व सीजेआई डी.वाई. चंद्रचूड ने कहा है कि टाटा संस, टाटा ट्रस्ट्स के नॉमिनी डायरेक्टर्स का बहुमत समर्थन लिए बिना एन. चंद्रशेखरन को कार्यकारी अध्यक्ष के तौर पर फिर से नियुक्त नहीं कर सकती। यह कानूनी राय ट्रस्ट्स ने ली है और यह टाटा संस के आर्टिकल्स ऑफ एसोसिएशन की व्याख्या पर आधारित है। ट्रस्ट्स के चेयरमैन नोएल टाटा ने इस नियुक्ति के खिलाफ वोट दिया, जबकि वाइस चेयरमैन वेणु श्रीनिवासन ने इसका समर्थन किया।
