Credit card spending in India fell by 2.8% to ₹2.02 lakh crore in August, down from ₹2.08 lakh crore in July, according to RBI data. This decline indicates a moderation in spending per card and a potential shift towards smaller purchases. The addition of new credit cards also slowed, with banks adding 1.19 million in August, a 5.6% decrease from July. Despite the monthly dip, year-on-year credit card spending saw a 5.9% increase.
