Para-shooters Allege Corruption, Extortion in Asian Games Selection

Times of India - Sports · sports

Indian para-shooters have alleged corruption and financial demands in the selection process for the Aichi-Nagoya Para Asian Games. Athletes submitted a representation to the Sports Authority of India, citing "illicit monetary extortion" and "brazen corruption" by officials of the Paralympic Committee of India and its Shooting Technical Committee. They claim a 20 per cent demand on government cash awards was a pre-condition for selection, and quota places were not allocated purely on rankings.
