Air Chief Marshal AP Singh expressed serious concern over the declining strength of fighter squadrons, stating the Indian Air Force needs to induct 36-40 fighter jets annually to maintain its numbers. He emphasized that delays in defence programs directly harm operational capabilities, likening technological delays to outright denial. To address the shortage, the IAF is pursuing projects like Tejas Mk-1A, Tejas Mk-2, and the AMCA, with HAL working to increase production.
