Bengal Closes 252 Madrasas, Warns 100 More

West Bengal has ordered the closure of 252 madrasas and issued show-cause notices to 100 others as part of a review of Islamic educational institutions. The majority of the closed institutions are reportedly from the Khariji sect, with many located in Malda and Uttar Dinajpur. Minority Affairs Minister Khudiram Tudu stated that unapproved madrasas must provide valid authorization or face shutdown.

पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार ने 252 मदरसों को बंद करने का आदेश दिया है और 100 अन्य को कारण बताओ नोटिस जारी किया है। यह इस्लामिक शिक्षण संस्थानों की समीक्षा का हिस्सा है। बताया जा रहा है कि बंद हुए ज्यादातर मदरसे 'खारीजी' संप्रदाय के हैं, और ये मालदा और उत्तर दिनाजपुर में स्थित हैं। अल्पसंख्यक मामलों के मंत्री खुदीराम टुडू ने कहा कि बिना मंजूरी वाले मदरसों को वैध अनुमति देनी होगी, वरना उन्हें बंद कर दिया जाएगा।
