FBI Used Aircraft Carrier as Command Post

Following the September 11, 2001 attacks, the Intrepid, a World War II aircraft carrier turned museum, served as an emergency command center for the FBI in New York. Approximately 500 FBI agents worked around the clock on the ship for weeks as investigators managed the massive response. The carrier provided much-needed space and separation from the chaos of Lower Manhattan, also assisting FEMA and other emergency responders.
