Indian Equities Stuck in Two-Year Grind

Economic Times Markets · stocks

Indian equities have experienced a prolonged period of stagnation and uncertainty over the past two years, marking a significant shift from previous bull runs. Since September 2024, the Nifty has fallen 11.6% and the Sensex 13.6%, though mid- and small-cap stocks have shown intermittent strength. This challenging market has led some fund managers to rely more on technical signals than fundamentals. Despite the lack of broad returns, valuations have cooled, with the Nifty's PE ratio dropping below its five and ten-year averages.
