Meerut Court Sentences Couple to Death for Blue Drum Murder

A Meerut court has sentenced Muskan Rastogi and her lover Sahil Shukla to death for the murder of Muskan's husband, Saurabh Rajput, and destroying evidence. The district and sessions judge invoked the Mahabharata to justify the punishment, stating that punishing the guilty is also Dharma. The couple was found guilty of drugging, stabbing, and dismembering Rajput in March 2025, concealing his remains in a cement-filled blue drum. The trial involved 22 prosecution witnesses and over 100 hearings. The victim's mother expressed relief, hoping the sentence deters others.

मेरठ की एक अदालत ने मुस्कान रस्तोगी और उसके प्रेमी साहिल शुक्ला को मुस्कान के पति सौरभ राजपूत की हत्या और सबूत मिटाने के जुर्म में मौत की सज़ा सुनाई है। जिला और सत्र न्यायाधीश ने सज़ा को सही ठहराने के लिए महाभारत का ज़िक्र किया और कहा कि दोषियों को सज़ा देना भी धर्म है। यह जोड़ा मार्च 2025 में राजपूत को नशीला पदार्थ देकर, चाकू मारकर और उसके शरीर के टुकड़े-टुकड़े कर एक नीले ड्रम में सीमेंट भरकर सबूत छिपाने का दोषी पाया गया। इस मुकदमे में 22 अभियोजन गवाह थे और 100 से ज़्यादा सुनवाई हुई। पीड़ित की माँ ने राहत जताई और उम्मीद जताई कि यह सज़ा दूसरों के लिए मिसाल बनेगी।
