Times of India · science

An injured hornbill at Artis Zoo in Amsterdam has successfully received a pair of 3D-printed beak prostheses, marking a world-first procedure. The male southern ground hornbill had broken both upper and lower beak sections, significantly impacting its ability to eat, forage, and groom. Specialists used CT scans and preserved fragments to design and create the replacements, which were then surgically implanted.
