Darius Khambata, a close associate of Tata Trusts chairman Noel Tata, will depart from the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and Sir Ratan Tata Trust on November 8 as his term concludes. Khambata expressed sadness over the "current divide" between Noel Tata and Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran, stating his independence comes at a cost. He had previously warned against listing Tata Sons, deeming it "existential" for the Trusts. His departure occurs during a tense period, narrowing the boards and coinciding with ongoing investigations by the Maharashtra Charity Commissioner.
