Nashik Administration Denies Water Release For Religious Rituals Amid Drought Concerns

The Nashik district administration has stated that water will not be released from dams for any religious purposes, including the Dhwajarohan ceremony for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela. Current government rules prohibit such releases, despite discussions about sewage in the Godavari river and dry water bodies. While civic authorities are tasked with preventing sewage discharge and improving pilgrimage site conditions, the administration maintains that reservoir water cannot be diverted for ceremonial use due to drought concerns.

नाशिक जिला प्रशासन ने कहा है कि सिंहस्थ कुंभ मेले के ध्वजारोहण समारोह सहित किसी भी धार्मिक उद्देश्य के लिए बांधों से पानी नहीं छोड़ा जाएगा। वर्तमान सरकारी नियम ऐसे किसी भी पानी को छोड़ने की मनाही करते हैं, भले ही गोदावरी नदी में सीवेज और सूखे जल निकायों पर चर्चा हुई हो। जबकि नागरिक अधिकारियों को सीवेज डिस्चार्ज को रोकने और तीर्थ स्थलों की स्थिति में सुधार करने का काम सौंपा गया है, प्रशासन का कहना है कि सूखे की चिंताओं के कारण जलाशय के पानी को समारोहों के लिए इस्तेमाल नहीं किया जा सकता है।
