Dhanteras Tradition Originates From Samudra Manthan Myth

Dhanteras, marking the start of Diwali festivities, is celebrated on the thirteenth day of the Krishna Paksha in the Kartik month. This year, it falls. Also known as Dhanatrayodashi and Dhanvantari Jayanti, the day honours Lord Dhanvantari, Goddess Lakshmi, and Lord Kuber. It is believed that purchasing gold, silver, and utensils on this day brings prosperity. The tradition is linked to the Samudra Manthan, or ocean churning, during which Lord Dhanvantari emerged with an elixir.
