Odisha's state government has approved amendments to the examination rules of the State Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (SCTE&VT), switching first-year diploma students to an annual examination pattern. This change, effective from the 2026-27 academic session, replaces the previous system of two semester-end examinations. Officials stated the shift aims to reduce dropout rates among diploma students. The new pattern will see students taking a single exam at the end of the academic year, typically in April or May, while other years will continue with the semester system.
