Madras High Court: Covid Pandemic Destroyed Marriages; Disputes Need Separate Handling
Times of India · india
The Madras High Court has stated that the Coronavirus pandemic has not only claimed lives but also damaged the institution of marriage. Justice N Anand Venkatesh observed that couples confined together during lockdowns saw each other's best and worst traits, leading to marital strain and impacting relationships. He directed district judges in Tamil Nadu to collect data on matrimonial disputes from marriages solemnized between 2020 and 2022. The court believes these pandemic-era disputes require separate consideration and innovative solutions to help families reconcile.
