Supreme Court Refuses Interim Order to Suspend CEC Gyanesh Kumar
Mint · politics
The Supreme Court has declined to issue an interim order for the suspension of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Instead, the court issued a notice to the Election Commission and the Centre, demanding a response within a week. This action follows a plea challenging allegations that Kumar made decisions unilaterally without the approval of other Election Commissioners. The court indicated it might reconsider or recall decisions if they were found to be made without unanimity. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh had previously called for Kumar's resignation.
