Supreme Court Clarifies Stand on New Form 6 for Voter Inclusion

The Supreme Court has clarified that it has not yet adjudicated on the validity of the new Form 6, used for including new voters during the Special Intensive Revision exercise. A bench stated that the form was not in existence when a previous judgment on the Bihar SIR was delivered, and therefore, the judgment neither approved nor disapproved it. The court will examine Form 6 in other pending matters. This observation came after a lawyer suggested the Election Commission implied the SC had upheld the form.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने स्पष्ट किया है कि उसने विशेष गहन संशोधन अभ्यास के दौरान नए मतदाताओं को शामिल करने के लिए उपयोग किए जाने वाले नए फॉर्म 6 की वैधता पर अभी तक कोई फैसला नहीं सुनाया है। एक पीठ ने कहा कि बिहार एसआईआर पर पिछले फैसले के समय यह फॉर्म मौजूद नहीं था, और इसलिए, फैसले ने न तो इसे मंजूरी दी और न ही इसे अस्वीकार किया। अदालत अन्य लंबित मामलों में फॉर्म 6 की जांच करेगी। यह टिप्पणी तब आई जब एक वकील ने सुझाव दिया कि चुनाव आयोग ने संकेत दिया था कि एससी ने फॉर्म को बरकरार रखा है।
