Indian Stock Market Sees Record 8-Week Loss, Wiping Out Rs 26 Lakh Crore

The Indian stock market has experienced an unprecedented eight consecutive weeks of decline, surpassing losses seen during the 2020 Covid-19 crash and the 2008 financial crisis. This prolonged selloff has erased over Rs 26 lakh crore from the BSE's market capitalization, pushing it below Rs 467 lakh crore. While elevated oil prices due to the Middle East crisis have contributed, soaring bond yields, reaching levels not seen in over a decade, are now identified as a more significant threat.
