Retired Banker Loses ₹95 Lakhs in Digital Arrest

A retired bank official in Lucknow was defrauded of ₹95.65 lakh in an elaborate 'digital arrest' scam. The victim was contacted by fraudsters posing as enforcement directorate and police officials who threatened him with arrest in a ransom case. Over eight days, he was subjected to psychological pressure and forced to transfer his savings to various accounts. The scam involved fake arrest warrants sent via WhatsApp and continuous video calls to monitor him.

लखनऊ में एक रिटायर्ड बैंक अधिकारी ₹95.65 लाख की ठगी का शिकार हो गए। यह एक 'डिजिटल अरेस्ट' स्कैम था। धोखेबाजों ने खुद को प्रवर्तन निदेशालय और पुलिस का अधिकारी बताकर पीड़ित को एक फिरौती मामले में गिरफ्तारी की धमकी दी। आठ दिनों तक पीड़ित पर मनोवैज्ञानिक दबाव बनाया गया और उसे अपनी बचत अलग-अलग खातों में ट्रांसफर करने के लिए मजबूर किया गया। इस स्कैम में WhatsApp पर फर्जी गिरफ्तारी वारंट भेजे गए और उस पर नज़र रखने के लिए लगातार वीडियो कॉल किए गए।
