Gujarat Startup Claims Ethanol Production From Human Hair

A Gujarat-based startup, Techofest Global, claims to have developed a technology to produce ethanol from human hair. The process, named 5G SAFE and IMPHA, reportedly uses a special biocatalyst to convert organic material into sugar, bypassing traditional pre-treatment steps. The company states that 85-90% of the biocatalyst can be recovered and reused. While the technology has been tested in a 100-liter research facility, its ability to meet fuel-grade purity standards remains a significant question.
