TNPDCL to Launch Self-Service Meter Readings Via Mobile App
Times of India · business
TNPDCL is introducing a 'self-service' feature on its mobile app to address a shortage of meter assessors. Consumers will be able to photograph their electricity meters and upload readings bi-monthly, allowing the app to automatically calculate consumption and generate bills. This initiative aims to combat billing discrepancies and ensure timely invoices. The feature is currently undergoing testing and will be rolled out across the state before December. This move shifts some billing responsibility to consumers, similar to practices by piped gas suppliers.
