An Ann Arbor inventor, Meera Ramaswami, has developed and patented Cargility, a portable mobility aid designed to help people safely enter and exit vehicles. The idea stemmed from witnessing her grandmother's fall and subsequent fear of travel, which highlighted how a loss of stability can lead to isolation. Cargility provides a stable support point by engaging with a vehicle's doorframe, reducing fall risk and physical strain for users and caregivers.
