Sebi Reworks New Closing Auction Framework After Issues

India's market regulator Sebi is reviewing its new closing auction (CAS) framework, launched just six weeks ago on August 3. The CAS has faced criticism for causing sharp swings in indices like Nifty and Sensex, especially on expiry days, leading to losses for options traders and high option premiums. Sebi is considering two alternatives for derivatives settlement prices and two options for adjusting market timings to reduce chaos and improve price discovery.
