Kerala HC Urges Union Govt to Finalise SOP for Disabled Children's Rehab

The Kerala High Court has urged the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to finalise and implement a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the care and rehabilitation of children with chronic neurodevelopmental disabilities. A bench noted that any delay in implementing the necessary SOP could not be countenanced, especially as it is crucial for supporting these vulnerable children. The court was informed that the central government is forming a committee to draft the SOP, but nominations from states are still pending.

केरल हाईकोर्ट ने केंद्र के सामाजिक न्याय और अधिकारिता मंत्रालय से क्रोनिक न्यूरोडेवलपमेंटल विकलांग बच्चों की देखभाल और पुनर्वास के लिए एक स्टैंडर्ड ऑपरेटिंग प्रोसीजर (एसओपी) को अंतिम रूप देने और लागू करने का आग्रह किया है। एक बेंच ने कहा कि आवश्यक एसओपी को लागू करने में किसी भी देरी को बर्दाश्त नहीं किया जा सकता, खासकर जब यह इन कमजोर बच्चों का समर्थन करने के लिए महत्वपूर्ण है। अदालत को सूचित किया गया कि केंद्र सरकार एसओपी का मसौदा तैयार करने के लिए एक समिति बना रही है, लेकिन राज्यों से नामांकन अभी लंबित हैं।
