Supreme Court Seeks Report on Jantar Mantar Protest Excesses

The Supreme Court has directed the High Powered Enquiry Committee (HPEC) to submit an action taken report within two weeks concerning the July protest at Jantar Mantar. The court is investigating alleged police excesses, including the use of pellet guns and harassment of female protestors. The Centre has been ordered to provide essential office space, technological support, and secretarial assistance to the committee.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने हाई पावर्ड एनक्वायरी कमेटी (HPEC) को जंतर मंतर में जुलाई में हुए विरोध प्रदर्शनों के संबंध में दो हफ्तों के अंदर एक्शन टेकन रिपोर्ट जमा करने का निर्देश दिया है। कोर्ट पैलेट गन के इस्तेमाल और महिला प्रदर्शनकारियों को परेशान करने सहित कथित पुलिस ज्यादतियों की जांच कर रहा है। केंद्र को कमेटी को आवश्यक ऑफिस स्पेस, तकनीकी सहायता और सेक्रेटेरियल सहायता प्रदान करने का आदेश दिया गया है।
