Australia has announced its bid to join the United Nations Security Council for a non-permanent seat from 2029 to 2030. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stated that Australia aims to play a key role in addressing global challenges like AI and climate change. The country's last term on the council concluded in 2014. Finland is also a nominee from their bloc. Voting for the 2029-2030 term is scheduled for 2028.
