Romania Uncovers Russian-Coordinated Sabotage Network Behind Factory Fire

Al Jazeera · world

Romanian authorities have identified a sabotage network coordinated by Russia, which they believe caused a fire at an industrial site near a state-owned weapons factory in Brasov on September 14. The Intelligence Service stated this was part of a wider campaign targeting arms manufacturers and industrial sites to undermine defence capabilities and weaken European security. DIICOT reported two Belarusians and a Ukrainian were involved, with two arrested in Germany while planning similar offenses. Romania, a NATO and EU member bordering Ukraine, has been a target of Russian hybrid warfare.
