Supreme Court Orders UGC to Warn Public About Fake Institutions
Hindustan Times · education
The Supreme Court has directed the University Grants Commission (UGC) and other regulatory bodies to issue public advisories against fraudulent educational institutions. This directive follows the exposure of a fake medical college in Etah, Uttar Pradesh, operating from a dilapidated building with an illiterate tea seller as its chairman. The court emphasized the need to prevent students from falling prey to such scams. The UGC will now warn the public about verifying the authenticity of institutions before admissions or dealings.
