The US Supreme Court has cleared the way for Christa Pike's execution in Tennessee, overturning a last-minute stay. Pike, 50, was scheduled to be executed by lethal injection for a murder committed at age 18. A lower court had temporarily halted the execution to consider Pike's claims of childhood sexual abuse. The Supreme Court's conservative majority vacated the stay, allowing the state to proceed with the execution. Pike and her boyfriend were convicted of the 1995 murder of Colleen Slemmer, but only Pike received a death sentence.
