Over 100 Gather for 'Justice for Zubeen Garg' Protest in Assam

More than a hundred people formed a human chain in front of the Assam secretariat demanding justice for singer Zubeen Garg, who died in Singapore last year. Police prevented the demonstration and took protesters away in buses. Garg's death occurred under mysterious circumstances while he was swimming in Singapore last September. A 21-member committee has been formed to press for punishment of those responsible, including demanding a supplementary charge sheet and challenging bail granted to some accused. The Assam government plans to challenge the bail in the Supreme Court.

असम में ज़ुबिन गर्ग के लिए न्याय की मांग 100 से ज़्यादा लोग विरोध प्रदर्शन में जुटे

सिंगापुर में पिछले साल गायक ज़ुबिन गर्ग की मौत के बाद न्याय की मांग को लेकर 100 से ज़्यादा लोग असम सचिवालय के सामने मानव श्रृंखला बनाकर खड़े हो गए। पुलिस ने प्रदर्शन को रोका और प्रदर्शनकारियों को बसों में ले गई। गर्ग की मौत पिछले सितंबर में सिंगापुर में तैरते समय रहस्यमय परिस्थितियों में हुई थी। जिम्मेदार लोगों को सज़ा दिलाने के लिए 21 सदस्यीय समिति बनाई गई है, जिसमें पूरक आरोप पत्र दाखिल करने और कुछ आरोपियों को मिली जमानत को चुनौती देने की मांग शामिल है। असम सरकार सुप्रीम कोर्ट में जमानत को चुनौती देने की योजना बना रही है।
