Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that Russia will not be permitted to compete in the upcoming World Junior Hockey Championship. This decision follows threats of a boycott from several European nations, including Sweden, Finland, and Denmark, due to the ongoing war in Ukraine. Canada's government stated it would use federal law to prevent Russian and Belarusian teams from participating under their national symbols in events hosted in Canada. The International Ice Hockey Federation and USA Hockey are also holding meetings to discuss the situation.
