UK Scales Back Jerusalem Consulate After Israel Dispute Over Settlements

Britain has reduced its diplomatic staff at the Jerusalem consulate following a dispute with Israel over British measures targeting Israeli settlements. Israel ordered the closure of the nearly 200-year-old consulate on September 8, retaliating against UK sanctions on settlements and individuals involved in settler violence. While Israel stated the consulate had ceased operating in its previous capacity, Britain insisted the building would remain open as the UK Mission, Jerusalem.
