The Reserve Bank of India has announced a Rs 1 lakh crore liquidity infusion through a variable rate repo auction, the first in three months. This move comes as overnight call rates surpassed the policy benchmark, indicating tightening liquidity ahead of the festive season. The central bank will conduct another auction for Rs 50,000 crore. This infusion aims to help banks manage funds amid monthly tax outflows and a tightened daily cash reserve requirement, ensuring stability in the banking system.

भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने तीन महीने में पहली बार वेरिएबल रेट रेपो नीलामी के जरिए ₹1 लाख करोड़ की लिक्विडिटी डालने का ऐलान किया है। यह कदम ऐसे समय आया है जब त्योहारी सीजन से पहले ओवरनाइट कॉल रेट पॉलिसी बेंचमार्क से ऊपर चले गए थे, जो लिक्विडिटी में कसावट का संकेत दे रहे थे। केंद्रीय बैंक ₹50,000 करोड़ की एक और नीलामी करेगा। इस लिक्विडिटी से बैंकों को मासिक टैक्स भुगतान और टाइट कैश रिजर्व रिक्वायरमेंट के बीच फंड मैनेज करने में मदद मिलेगी, जिससे बैंकिंग सिस्टम में स्थिरता बनी रहेगी।
