Japan has officially debunked viral social media claims that it agreed to accept 1 lakh workers from Bangladesh. The Japanese foreign press secretary stated that no such agreement or commitment was made during Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's recent visit to Tokyo. Speculation had arisen comparing the supposed deal to India's bilateral agreements. While Bangladesh sought to expand employment opportunities under Japan's Specified Skilled Worker program, Japan clarified that recruitment involves language tests and technical certifications, with no automatic allocation for countries. The summit primarily focused on economic cooperation and investment.
