India Forex Reserves Drop $14.9 Billion
Business Standard · business
India's foreign exchange reserves saw a significant decline of $14.9 billion, falling to $765.9 billion in the week ending September 18. This marks the sharpest weekly drop since November 2024. The decrease was primarily driven by a $14.8 billion fall in foreign currency assets, influenced by dollar sales and revaluation losses. This decline occurs as the rupee faces pressure from rising crude oil prices and US Treasury yields, prompting intervention by the Reserve Bank of India to manage currency volatility.
