The Keralam government has ordered an anti-corruption investigation against CPI(M) leader P.P. Divya, former Kannur district panchayat president. Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala sanctioned the inquiry into the alleged irregular award of a ₹12-crore contract for modular toilets to a private firm. Officials stated the contract was awarded without open tenders, bypassing competitive bidding. The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau can conduct a preliminary inquiry before registering an FIR, as per Supreme Court directives. This probe follows previous allegations linking Divya and her husband to the firm.
