Sebi Allows AIF Managers to Certify Investor Accreditation Status
Economic Times · business
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has introduced a new measure allowing managers of alternative investment funds (AIFs), specialized investment funds, and portfolio management services to independently determine and certify investor accreditation status. This move aims to simplify the accreditation process for investors. Managers can assess eligibility during onboarding or scheme tenure, with accreditation valid for three years and recognized across the same corporate group. The existing agency-led mechanism will continue, with manager-led accreditation serving as an optional additional route.
