MSMEs Drive Nearly Half of India's Exports

Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in India now number 9.61 crore, contributing significantly to the nation's economy. These enterprises account for approximately 48.58% of India's total exports. Furthermore, the MSME sector is a crucial source of employment, providing jobs to around 42 crore people. This makes it the second-largest employment generator in the country, following only the agriculture sector. Governor Jishnu Dev Varma highlighted these figures at an event in Kolhapur.
