Dragonflies Reveal Delhi's Fragile Wetland Health

A recent survey in Delhi's seven biodiversity parks recorded 11,154 dragonflies and damselflies, ancient insects vital for natural pest control. While the total number of individuals decreased from last year, specific species were newly recorded in Aravalli and Yamuna Biodiversity Parks. These insects, closely tied to water, serve as indicators of wetland health. Their presence and diversity offer crucial insights into the environmental condition of the city's remaining water bodies.

दिल्ली के सात बायोडायवर्सिटी पार्कों में हुए सर्वे में 11,154 ड्रैगनफ्लाई और डेमसेल्फलाई मिलीं। ये पुराने कीड़े हैं जो प्राकृतिक रूप से कीट नियंत्रण करते हैं। पिछले साल के मुकाबले इनकी कुल संख्या कम हुई है, लेकिन अरावली और यमुना बायोडायवर्सिटी पार्कों में कुछ नई प्रजातियां भी पाई गईं। ये कीड़े पानी से जुड़े होते हैं और वेटलैंड्स की सेहत बताते हैं। इनकी मौजूदगी शहर के बाकी जलस्रोतों की स्थिति का अहम संकेत देती है।
