Apple has removed the offline messaging application Bitchat from its India App Store following a directive from the country's IT ministry. The app's developer, Jack Dorsey, shared a notice from Apple stating the removal was due to content deemed illegal in India. This action was taken under Section 69(A) of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Previously, the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre had also ordered GitHub to take down the app in July, citing risks of misuse by anti-national elements.
