Bengal Eyes Rs 2,500 Crore Investment to Boost Tourism Infrastructure

The West Bengal government is planning a significant boost for its tourism sector, aiming to attract approximately Rs 2,500 crore in direct investment for infrastructure development. This initiative is part of a new land and industrial policy set to be unveiled soon. The state plans a fiscal allocation of Rs 500 crore in 2026-27 to enhance global accessibility to tourist destinations. The objective is to transform Bengal into a foreign-currency-earning state through modern, sustainable, and technology-enabled tourism. A hospitality institute is also planned to train the local workforce.
