Civilians Risk Lives on Mined Roads To Escape Russian-Held Ukrainian City
Hindustan Times · world
Civilians are risking their lives to escape the Russian-occupied Ukrainian city of Oleshky, which has been without food, electricity, heat, or running water for months. Roads leading out of the city are heavily mined, with burned-out cars and menacing drones creating a perilous environment. One former hairdresser walked 20 kilometers along a partially mined road to flee the escalating humanitarian crisis. The city, once home to 24,000 people, now has fewer than 2,000 residents.
