Centre Clears E100 Certification For Flex-Fuel Vehicles

The Indian government has officially cleared the E100 certification for vehicles capable of running on 100% ethanol, alongside those using 85% ethanol (E85). This regulatory update amends the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, allowing E85 or E100 usage exclusively in vehicles designed as flex-fuel models. This move supports domestic fuel production, enhances energy security by reducing reliance on imported crude oil, and aligns with India's net-zero emissions goal by 2070.
