IIT Ropar has launched a revolutionary 'Product/Startup-Driven PhD' pathway, the first of its kind in any Indian IIT. This new model eliminates the need for lengthy traditional theses. Instead, scholars can earn a PhD by developing a product, starting a company, or transferring technology, with one option requiring them to earn ₹10 lakh. This initiative aims to shift the focus from academic writing to practical innovation and real-world problem-solving.

आईआईटी रोपड़ ने एक क्रांतिकारी 'प्रोडक्ट/स्टार्टअप-ड्रिवन पीएचडी' रास्ता लॉन्च किया है, जो किसी भी भारतीय आईआईटी में अपनी तरह का पहला है। इस नए मॉडल में लंबी पारंपरिक थीसिस की ज़रूरत खत्म हो गई है। इसके बजाय, विद्वान एक प्रोडक्ट विकसित करके, एक कंपनी शुरू करके, या टेक्नोलॉजी ट्रांसफर करके पीएचडी कमा सकते हैं, जिसमें एक विकल्प के लिए उन्हें ₹10 लाख कमाने होंगे। इस पहल का उद्देश्य अकादमिक लेखन से हटकर व्यावहारिक नवाचार और वास्तविक दुनिया की समस्याओं को हल करने पर ध्यान केंद्रित करना है।
