Covid Pandemic Destroyed Marriages, Madras High Court Observes
TOI - Delhi · india
The Madras High Court has stated that the Coronavirus pandemic has not only claimed lives but also significantly damaged the institution of marriage. The court noted that couples confined together during lockdowns experienced heightened pressure and exposure to each other's worst traits, negatively impacting their relationships. Consequently, Justice N Anand Venkatesh suggested that matrimonial disputes arising between 2020 and 2022 should be treated as a distinct category requiring innovative solutions. He directed district judges in Tamil Nadu to gather data on such cases for potential separate handling.
