Left Parties To Contest GVMC, Local Body Polls Together

The CPI(M) and CPI have announced they will jointly contest the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) and local body elections. District secretaries M. Jaggu Naidu and Sk. Rehman stated the parties will focus on issues like drinking water, pollution control, and civic amenities, while opposing property tax increases. They also pledged to protect the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and public sector undertakings, and curb corruption. The parties aim to improve civic services and provide housing sites for the homeless, appealing for support from youth and intellectuals.
