The man behind Bangladesh's proposed tallest Ram statue, identified as Das, has been arrested in Gaibandha on fraud charges. He was involved in a money laundering case concerning suspicious financial transactions amounting to Tk9.35 crore. Das had planned to erect an 81-foot statue at a temple in Palashbari. This arrest raises questions about the funding and execution of large religious projects in the region.
