Russian strikes have severely damaged Ukraine's power infrastructure, causing widespread electricity disruptions and plunging large parts of Kyiv into darkness. President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that 28 substations and other critical energy facilities were hit, leaving at least 550,000 households without power. Residential buildings and neighbourhoods experienced blackouts as a result of the attacks. Ukrainian officials confirmed missile and drone assaults targeted Kyiv and other locations across the country.
