India is establishing 'vulture restaurants,' managed feeding stations, to combat the critical decline of these birds. Once numbering nearly four crore in the 1980s, India's vulture population has plummeted by over 97 percent. This drastic fall is linked to factors like poisoning and habitat loss, exacerbated by veterinary drugs like diclofenac, which was banned in 2006.

भारत में गिद्धों की घटती आबादी को बचाने के लिए 'वल्चर रेस्टोरेंट' यानी खास खाने की जगहें बनाई जा रही हैं। 1980 के दशक में जहाँ इनकी संख्या करीब 4 करोड़ थी, वहीं अब यह 97% से भी ज़्यादा कम हो गई है। पशुओं के इलाज में इस्तेमाल होने वाली डाइक्लोफेनाक जैसी दवाओं के कारण भी इनकी संख्या में भारी गिरावट आई है, जिसे 2006 में बैन कर दिया गया था।
