Manipur Violence: Kuki Man Killed, 6 Houses Torched Amid Shutdown Over Meitei Killings

A 45-year-old Kuki man was killed by unidentified assailants in Manipur's Kangpokpi district on Tuesday amid escalating ethnic violence. Six Kuki houses were also torched in Ukhrul district. The incidents occurred during a 48-hour shutdown imposed to protest the killing of three Meiteis in an ambush on Monday. The shutdown significantly impacted five Meitei-dominated districts in Imphal Valley, leading to the closure of educational institutions and suspension of public transport. Security forces have been put on high alert across the state.

मंगलवार को मणिपुर के कांगपोकपी जिले में अज्ञात हमलावरों ने 45 वर्षीय कुकी व्यक्ति की हत्या कर दी, जो जातीय हिंसा के बढ़ने के बीच हुई। उखरूल जिले में 6 कुकी घरों को भी आग लगा दी गई। ये घटनाएं सोमवार को तीन मैतेई लोगों की घात लगाकर की गई हत्या के विरोध में लगाए गए 48 घंटे के बंद के दौरान हुईं। इस बंद का इम्फाल घाटी के पांच मैतेई-बहुल जिलों पर काफी असर पड़ा, जिससे शैक्षणिक संस्थान बंद हो गए और सार्वजनिक परिवहन निलंबित हो गया। पूरे राज्य में सुरक्षा बलों को हाई अलर्ट पर रखा गया है।
