Road Contractors To Face Penalties For Fatal Accidents Under New Rules

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is introducing new penalties for road construction contractors in EPC projects. This initiative aims to enhance accountability and safety by penalizing contractors for deficiencies leading to fatal accidents. Contractors will have 15 days to rectify errors after the first accident. If a second accident occurs within a year at the same location, contractors will be fined ₹25 lakh per fatality and ₹10 lakh per grievous injury. This framework seeks to ensure greater responsibility in infrastructure development.

सड़क परिवहन और राजमार्ग मंत्रालय EPC परियोजनाओं में सड़क निर्माण ठेकेदारों के लिए नई दंड व्यवस्था ला रहा है। इस पहल का मकसद जवाबदेही और सुरक्षा बढ़ाना है, जिसमें घातक दुर्घटनाओं का कारण बनने वाली कमियों के लिए ठेकेदारों पर जुर्माना लगाया जाएगा। पहली दुर्घटना के बाद ठेकेदारों को गलतियों को सुधारने के लिए 15 दिन का समय मिलेगा। यदि एक साल के भीतर उसी स्थान पर दूसरी दुर्घटना होती है, तो ठेकेदारों पर प्रति मृत्यु ₹25 लाख और प्रति गंभीर चोट ₹10 लाख का जुर्माना लगाया जाएगा। यह ढांचा बुनियादी ढांचे के विकास में अधिक जिम्मेदारी सुनिश्चित करने का प्रयास करता है।
